My Kikay Kit Essentials
June 28, 2015
Our kikay kit (or vanity kit) is basically a touch-up kit. Unless we're gonna do our makeup from primer to setting spray somewhere else, our go-to kit should contain stuff that would simply help our makeup stay put, or look its best throughout the day.
We do not expect to look exactly like how we look after we put on our makeup in the morning. But there are simple things that could keep our makeup looking sane as possible amidst the sticky and unpredictable Philippine weather.
Here are the staples that we should keep in our Kikay Kit, assuming that we have our makeup fully done already:
1. Oil Absorber
It could be tissue, oil film, oil paper... Depending on the weather, by mid-morning, our face may be sticky and shiny with oil. The urge to pile on powder is strong, but, na-ah! Putting on powder to mask the shine would make our makeup look cakey. Pressing tissue or oil film on your T-zone, where oil tends to ooze more, may be the only fix we need.
2. Powder
After absorbing excess oil, a little dab or dust of powder on theT-zone can freshen up our look. Do not wipe or pile on too much, so as not to move our foundation or look ashy. If the powder's packaging is too bulky, place some in small travel bottles, like those from Beabi.
3. Blush
I don't know, but I think powder blush wears off the fastest. So, whether its liquid, cream, gel, stick --- if yours isn't the long-wear kind, it should be in your kikay kit to keep that life and color on your cheeks. Again, too much blush equals a clowny, overdone look.
4. Lipstick
Oh, yes, need I say more? We talk, eat, drink, and do all that mean stuff to our lippy. Always make room for your lipstick in your kit. Adding a lip liner too won't hurt, and it won't take up too much space.
5. Chapstick
Or any dry lips saver. Well, you're one lucky gal if you do not need one.
7. Wipes
Eyeliners, mascaras, and sometimes, lipsticks don't stay put for whatever reason. Keep a small pack in your kit to carefully wipe off those smudges/fallouts that are making you look like a racoon, NOT the entire liner or lipstick. That's usually under your eyes. Then brighten up the area by gently applying some powder on it.
6. Handy mirror
I especially like the ones that have magnified mirrors for a closer look on that smudged lipstick or liner.
7. Hair Brush or Hair Comb
Of course, we wouldn't want to leave our hair unkept, even on those I-don't-care-about-my-hair days, would we?
Now, if you're really at it, and you are a makeup diva, bring your makeup arsenal. When it's touch up time, remove and wash off your makeup, then reapply. Lucky you if you have the luxury of having that much time, girl! Haha!
